You have decided to travel to the country of Spain and to experience all of the fabulous things that the country has to offer. Most Americans fly into Madrid as it is the biggest airport in Spain and it is somewhat centrally located in the country so that is a good starting point for your vacation overseas . Madrid is the largest city as well as the capital of the country and is overflowing with several things to do and see. One of the most popular things to see are the wonderful art museums in Madrid . You could spend several days just going to museums in Madrid there are so many . Madrid is also known as the center of bullfighting and many tourists make plans to see this age old event that is only seen in Spain.

Barcelona is another great place to see in Spain. After visiting the hectic urban setting of Madrid, Barcelona is a nice place to go and relax on the gorgeous beaches that are there. While in Barcelona also be certain to enjoy a stroll through the gothic quarter where gorgeous gothic architecture is present in the various buildings here. If you are a sports fan , it would also be exciting to visit where the Olympics took place here in 1992.

The next city to see in Spain is Granada. It is known for the Moorish architecture from when the Moors ruled this region of Spain many years Spanish area centuries ago. The most frequented place that tourists visit in all of Spain is in Granada and that is the Alhambra which is a wonderfully grand structure and one that should not be missed .

Valencia is another beautiful city in Spain and one that is frequently visited by tourists . This city has the largest aquarium in all of Europe which is a great facility bringing the ocean life up close to visitors. A delicious local Spanish food that all visitors should sample while traveling in Spain is the Valencia local dish of Paella. It is a rice based recipe complete with seafood, chorizo and other ingredients and is absolutely delicious . Follow up sampling the paella by going to a Flamenco bar where you can enjoy Flamenco dancers and even participate and learn a few steps yourself.

Many people traveling abroad like to purchase items to bring home from their travels . One fun thing is to buy the local dishes or Spanish pottery there. Each region is known to have it’s own unique colors and patterns that are special to that region . Buying one plate or bowl from each city you visit would be a great thing to purchase . Also, if you want to see several museums, it is suggested to purchase the museum book from each place .
