Before You Go To Sunny Shores
Thinking of a sun-drenched beach vacation, great surfing, and acquiring a tan in winter? Yes, the very thought of surfing in wide open beaches in winter is tempting.
Before you rush to fly out to far Caribbean or other places boasting of undefeated surfing, do your homework first that might save your life. Shark attacks are on the rise and you don’t want to be shark feed after spending all that cash in your wallets for a exciting vacation.
No thank you, you say. You’d rather play gin rummy at home with the same shark-timid cast of characters who have a mind to show some tricks with their custom zippo lighters, guzzle beer, and rake in the tropical atmosphere, go ahead. But don’t take a dip in the waters of- West End at the Grand Bahamas, Reunion Island of the coast of Madagascar, Kahana in West Maui in Hawaii, and Brisbane in Australia. These places have lovely sharks ready for you. You can always Google more shark infested beaches worldwide if you want to be sure no Hammerheads or Tiger Sharks are around.
Nasty Bugs in Hotel Rooms
Another menace is night the bedbugs. These beasties don’t choose their victims and they live and breed in the sleaziest and swankiest of hotels/hostels.
They will go anywhere (short of riding your coattails) and if you pick one of them, it will go home with you. These devious critters crawl out of their hiding places at night to enjoy their meal ticket.
How do you steer clear of these bugs? Before plunking your luggage on the floor or on the chair, plop them on the tub. Yes, the tub is a much safer place for your suitcase or backpack if you don’t want those sly bugs in your clothes and finally in your home. Check the mattresses’ undersides and if you spot black and red splotches, get another room or another hotel.
Sharks and bedbugs – they can always spoil anybody’s dream holiday. So double check before you open that wallet to pay for that [spin[magical|thrilling[/spin] holiday[/spin].
